Pissa World Adds New South American Pizza Region to Its Global Menu
Pissa World has added South America as a formal region on its rotating global menu, introducing three new pies drawn from Argentine and Brazilian pizza traditions that had previously only appeared as limited-time specials.
What's New on the Menu
The addition includes the Argentine fugazzeta, a double-crust pie stuffed with mozzarella and topped with a thick layer of slow-caramelized onions; the São Paulo catupiry, built around Brazil's soft, mild spreadable cheese instead of the usual mozzarella base; and a Buenos Aires-style faina pairing, a chickpea flatbread traditionally served alongside pizza slices in Argentine pizzerias and now offered as a side option at Pissa World locations that carry the new region.
Each of the three items had run as limited-time tests in select markets over the past several months. According to Pissa World, the fugazzeta in particular outperformed expectations, with repeat-order rates among the highest of any item tested in the past two years, which pushed the company to formalize South America as a permanent menu region rather than a rotating special.
Why South America, and Why Now
Pissa World's global menu has historically leaned heavily on European and North American styles, with occasional Asian regional specials. Customer requests for South American options had been building steadily, driven in part by the growing popularity of Argentine and Brazilian pizza content online, where the double-crust fugazzeta format has developed a dedicated following outside its home region.
Sourcing catupiry cheese domestically required Pissa World to work with a specialty dairy supplier capable of matching the cheese's distinct texture, since standard mozzarella substitutes did not replicate the same soft, creamy melt that defines the São Paulo style. That sourcing work was the main reason the region took longer to launch than some of the brand's other regional additions.
What to Expect When Ordering
The fugazzeta is built with two thin dough layers sandwiching a heavy layer of mozzarella, topped with caramelized onions and a light dusting of oregano rather than tomato sauce. Because of the stuffed double-crust format, it takes slightly longer to bake than a standard pie, and Pissa World recommends ordering it in advance for group orders.
The catupiry pizza uses a lighter tomato base than most of the menu, letting the cheese's mild flavor stand out, and it is being positioned as an entry point for customers who find traditional mozzarella-heavy pies too rich.
Availability
The South American region is rolling out first in Pissa World's larger metro locations, with wider availability planned over the coming months as the catupiry supply chain scales up. Customers can check the Pissa World app to confirm which nearby locations currently carry the new region before ordering.
The addition brings Pissa World's total regional lineup to its broadest yet, and the company says South America will not be the last new region added this year, with additional expansion already being tested internally.
